Accident insurance - Register your company
Anyone opening a business must register it with the relevant accident insurance institution within one week.
According to the law, the commercial employers' liability insurance associations are responsible for all companies, organisations and freelancers, unless the agricultural employers' liability insurance associations or the public sector accident insurance institutions are responsible. A commercial employers' liability insurance association is therefore usually responsible for start-ups.
Accident insurance claims are occupational accidents and occupational illnesses. Accidents at work are
- all accidents suffered in the company during the actual work activity and
- all commuting accidents (travelling directly from home to the place of work and back).

Miscellaneous
As an employer, you are obliged to report accidents at work or commuting accidents to the statutory accident insurance. This is the case if an employee is unable to work for more than three days as a result of the accident. This is usually done using a form. Many employers' liability insurance associations and accident insurance funds already offer the option of online reporting on their websites.
For general information, you can call the nationwide standardised "Infoline der Gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung" from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on 0800 6050404, where companies and insured persons can obtain information on all questions relating to statutory accident insurance. If necessary, you will also be put through to the relevant employers' liability insurance association or accident insurance fund. You can also contact the accident insurance company by e-mail at info@dguv.de.
